At home, the New York Giants are currently both 1-4 straight up and against the spread this year. We won’t look at the whole season for the Dallas Cowboys, as all that matters now is their record since losing Ezekiel Elliott to suspension, which has left them 1-3 straight up and against the spread. That single win has kept them alive in the NFC playoff race so they will need to capitalize on their 2-10 (overall) opponent to save their season and get one step closer to having Elliot back in the fold in time for the playoffs. Can the Cowboys hold off the Giants for a much needed win?

Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (6-6)
The Dallas Cowboys are are 6-6 right now and are still in the conversation for wildcard contention. Last week, the Cowboys offense got a win without Zeke Elliot. The Dallas offense generated 275 yards of offense against Washington in the win, 38-14.
Dak Prescott was 11 of 22 for 102 yards passing and two touchdowns. No bad, but not great numbers from the second year quarterback. Since the loss of Elliot, Prescott has struggled to shoulder the load. It’s not all Prescott’s fault the team is .500 right now. Other big names are going to have to step up in his absence. Alfred Morris did a good job filling last week. Morris rushed for 127 yards and one touchdown in the win. This week, look for the Dallas run game to get established early. Prescott is going to play game manager in this week’s matchup.
Defensively, the Cowboys are hurting without team captain Sean Lee. Lee has been hurt almost every season he has played in the NFL for Dallas. The Dallas defense held Redskins to 280 total yards last week.
This season, the Cowboys are allowing 364 yards and 23.7 points per game. The Cowboys run defense has played well, allowing 107 yards per game this season. Expect the Dallas defensive unit to be ready. Last week, the unit held Kirk Cousins to 251 yards passing and two interceptions. If the Dallas defense can get pressure on the Giants quarterbacks, this game could get bad for New York.
Betting on the New York Giants(2-10)
The New York Giants have had a season filled with tons of drama. In the beginning of the season, there was all the talk about O’Dell Beckham Jr’s contract negotiations, then his season ending ankle injury occurred. After the injury to Beckham Jr, the team has gone 2-5. The injury to OBJ, some would argue hurt Eli Manning’s play. Not having his superstar playmaker impacted the offense so much, Manning was benched last week for Geno Smith.
Smith was 21 of 34 for 212 yards and two touchdowns, but did have a lost fumble. Which probably has a lot to do with why New York lost again. After the loss, the Giants announced they would fire then head coach, Bob Mcadoo. He was relieved of his duties on Monday.
Defensively, the Giants look at times like they have given up. The Mediocre Oakland offense put up 401 total yards against the New York defense last week. Derek Carr had 287 yards and one touchdown against the Giants.
This week, look for the Giants defense to feel re-energized after the firing of Ben Mcadoo. Mcadoo was a ton of the reason why the Giants have not performed this year, and have looked like they have quit in some game under his guidance.
Writer’s Prediction
This game is going to be a battle. Both NFC East opponents are playing underwhelming this year. It will be interesting to see how New York responds after Mcadoo’s firing. Dallas needs this win to stay in wildcard contention. All eyes will again be on Dak Prescott to deliver the win for big D. The Giants might be celebrating this week after the good news in East Rutherford. Take the Giants at home with a rested Eli Manning as the starter to cover. Pick: Giants (+4.5)
