Dak Prescott and the Cowboys restored order on the team by snapping a two-game skid with a 27-17 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 13. The Cowboys’ defense roared in that game, as Dallas came away with four interceptions and a couple of sacks. Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs continue to play pivotal roles for the Cowboys’ defense that is fifth in the NFL in takeaways per game and second in interception rate (4.35%). Those are not good signs for Washington, which often struggles in keeping the ball safe. In fact, the Football Team are 19th in the league in giveaways per contest and 23rd in offensive interception rate (2.76%). And then there’s Dallas’ offense that now has the trio of Michael Gallup, CeeDee Lamb, and Amari Cooper all healthy to challenge Washington’s porous pass defense.
The Cowboys are 7-0 against the spread in their last seven games versus NFC teams.
Betting on the Washington Football Team (-4)
Regular Season Record: 6-6
Washington is one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now. After suffering four defeats in a row, the Football Team have turned things around and won all of their past four games, a stretch that includes their 17-15 road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13. Taylor Heinicke isn’t the flashiest quarterback out there, but he’s getting the basic things done. He moves the chains and just enough for Washington to earn good scoring opportunities. Against the Raiders, he had 196 passing yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 23/30 completions. Dallas’ stop unit certainly presents a tough challenge for Heinicke, but it should also be noted that Washington’s current win streak started when the Football Team took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home in Week 10, 29-19.
Washington is 4-0 against the spread in its last four games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cowboys win, 24-20.
