Betting on the Davidson Wildcats (14-12 Overall / 8-6 Conference)

The Wildcats prevented a two-game skid, as they rebounded from a recent loss to the Saint Joseph’s Hawks by outlasting the Rhode Island Rams at home last Saturday to the tune of a 77-75 win in overtime. Davidson, which will play the La Salle Explorers at home this coming Tuesday, relied on its two-headed monsters in guards Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Kellan Grady, who scored 23 and 21 points, respectively. The Wildcats shot just 43.6 percent from the field and hit only seven of their 20 shots from deep, but all those were outweighed by the performances of Gudmundsson and Grady. This season, Grady leads the team with 16.6 points per game, while Gudmundsson is second with 14.0 points per contest. Davidson can rack up points in a hurry because of their ability to shoot from long range. Davidson is 21st in the nation with 9.3 made 3-pointer per game on 36.9 shooting percentage.

The Wildcats are averaging 73.2 points per game.

The over is 4-0-1 in the Wildcats’ last five road games.

Betting on the Dayton Flyers  (25-2 Overall / 14-0 Conference)

The hot streak continues for Dayton. The Flyers extended their win streak to 16 games after downing the Duquesne Dukes at home last Saturday, 80-70. Dayton can consider itself lucky for having a player like Obi Toppin on its roster. Toppin is a huge reason why the Flyers are enjoying much success this season. Toppin, who is averaging 19.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, put up 28 points and grabbed seven boards in 37 minutes of action in the win over Duquesne. But Dayton is hardly about just a single player. As a team, the Flyers are statistically the most efficient in scoring in the nation. They are generating 80.6 points per game and are leading all Division I squads with a 52.1 shooting percentage. They also own the best efficient field goal percentage (59.3). Davidson will likely have a hard time keeping in step with Dayton on offense.

The Flyers will play the George Mason Patriots on the road this Tuesday before putting their entire focus on their date with the Wildcats.

The Flyers are 5-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

Dayton wins, 80-67.
