Betting on Denver Broncos (1-0)
The Broncos became the first team to win in the preseason following a 14-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons on the road during last week’s Hall of Fame Game. New Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco didn’t appear in the game. Instead, Brett Rypien, Kevin Hogan, and Drew Lock shared the duties under center for the Broncos, who managed to get the win despite getting outgained by Atlanta, 261-188. Khalfani Muhammad hed for a touchdown, while Juwan Winfree scored another via a reception. That’s a good start for Winfree, who is a rookie out of Colorado. The Broncos are examining their current receiving corps, as they look to prepare to start the season minus Emmanuel Sanders, who is recovering from an Achilles surgery.
The Broncos are 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last three preseason games.
Betting on Seattle Seahawks (0-0)
Last season, Russell Wilson did all he could to carry the Seahawks into the playoffs. That the Seahawks even made the playoffs was quite a feat, considering how bad Seattle’s pass protection was, ranking 30th overall in adjusted pass protection. It looks like Wilson will still have almost the same offensive line in front of him, but at least the Seahawks got him a new weapon downfield in the form of man-child D.K. Metcalf, a big and mobile receiver, who has the built that could probably withstand a bomb explosion. It will also be interesting to see how the backfield of Seattle is shaping up. Chris Carson is the projected starter, but there are hopes that second-year running back Rashaad Penny could have a breakout this year. In any case, the combo of Carson and Penny should provide Seattle a nice balance in their rushing attack.
The Seahawks are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 preseason games.
Writer’s Prediction
Broncos win, 21-20.
