Betting on the Denver Nuggets (odds)

Regular Season Record: 46-27

A couple of days since they ended an epic seven0-game duel against the Utah Jazz in the first round, Jamal Murray and the Nuggets looked tired and played flat in a 120-97 loss at the hands of the Clippers on Thursday. Murray scored just 12 points on 5-for-15 shooting, while Nikola Jokic mustered 15 points and just three rebounds. Nevertheless, help has to come for Murray and Jokic, who have massive targets on their backs in this series. Defensively, the Nuggets could not solve the Clippers, who shot close to 60 percent from the floor. The Nuggets tried to boost their defense by inserting Gary Harris in the starting unit, but that move obviously didn’t do much for the team, which also got just a measly five points from the defensive specialist.

The Nuggets are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games.

Betting on the LA Clippers (odds)

Regular Season Record: 49-23

Who’s going to stop The Klaw? Leonard was unstoppable in Game 1, finishing with 29 points on an highly efficient 12-of-16 shooting from the field. Leonard took full advantage of Denver’s porous defense, as he scored 18 of his points in the paint. As a team, the Clippers scored 66 points in the paint to just 40 by Denver. The Clippers did a good job of covering the top scoring options for Denver, as shown by the underwhelming offensive output of Murray and Jokic, and they’re doing that while getting solid contributions from their supporting cast. Marcus Morris had 18 points, while Montrezl Harell and Lou Williams had 15 and 10 points off the bench, respectively. The Clippers’ loaded bench is scoring 40.7 points per game, so far in the playoffs.

The Clippers are 3-0 against the spread in their last three games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Clippers win, 122-115.
