Betting on the Duke Blue Devils (odds)
Record: 15-3 Overall/5-2 Conference
Duke, which is scheduled to play the Clemson Tigers this Tuesday, is fresh off a 79-59 destruction of the Syracuse Orange on the road. The Blue Devils are currently 3-1 straight up in their last four games, with the lone loss in that stretch coming at the hands of the Florida State Seminoles at home on Jan. 18, 79-78. Four starters scored exactly 15 points each for Duke in the Syracuse game. Among them is Paolo Banchero, who added 13 rebounds and four assists, while Wendell Moore Jr. also had 15 points to go with six rebounds and eight assists. Banchero’s presence alone is a constant game-changer for Duke. Expected to be a top-three pick in this year’s NBA Draft, Banchero is averaging 17.9 points on 50.9 percent shooting from the field, so far in his first year in Durham. With Banchero as the focal point of Duke’s attack, the Blue Devils have become the 12th-best team in the nation in terms of adjusted offensive efficiency and 14th in effective field goal percentage.
The over is 6-4 in the last 10 games of Duke, which is averaging 82.6 points per contest.
Betting on the Louisville Cardinals (odds)
Record: 11-9 Overall/5-5 Conference Conference
Louisville is having an up-and-down season. They are just 5-5 in ACC play so far after losing their last two games to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at home last Saturday, 82-70, and to the Virginia Cavaliers on the road Monday, 64-52. Louisville, however, has gotten some good wins this season. The Cardinals have beaten the likes of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Maryland Terrapins, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Chris Mack’s team is only averaging 69.3 points per game this season, which is at least more than what they’ve been giving up on average (67.9 PPG). Guard Noah Locke leads the Cardinals with 10.5 points and Malik Williams is the only other Louisville player who is making at least 10 points per contest. The Cardinals will also hope that Jarrod West picks up where he left off after scoring 14 points off the bench versus Virginia.
The under is 3-2 in Louisville’s last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Duke wins, 78-64.
