Betting on Aston Villa (3-7-19, 16 pts)

Things are going from bad to worse for Aston Villa as they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday. It was the fourth consecutive loss for Aston Villa who remained rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with a measly 16 points to their name.

It won’t get any easier for Aston Villa as standing in their way this coming Sunday are title contenders Tottenham. The Villans have lost 10 of their last 12 meetings with Spurs. Compounding Aston Villa’s woes is their abysmal form at Villa Park. Villa have managed just 10 points in their 14 home matches this season, the fewest in the Premier League this campaign.

For Aston Villa to snap their losing rut this coming Sunday, they will need to get a huge performance from their backline. The Villans are dead-last in the Premier League in scoring defense, conceding a whopping 55 goals this campaign. 23 of those goals were surrendered at Villa Park. If that wasn’t enough, Aston Villa has also found it difficult to score at home this campaign. They have scored just 11 goals in front of their disgruntled fans this season, the fewest in England’s top division.

Betting on Tottenham (15-10-4, 55 pts)

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Predictions / Preview – March 2016

Tottenham missed a great chance to make up some ground in the Premier League title race as they were held to a 2-2 draw by a stubborn Arsenal side. Spurs conceded a late equalizer to the Gunners who were reduced to 10 men after 54 minutes. It was a disappointing result for Spurs who are now five points adrift of leaders Leicester City.

Tottenham will look to get their season back on track when they take on Aston Villa this coming Sunday. They will fancy their chances of doing just that as they have fared extremely well against Aston Villa on the road of late. Tottenham have won their last three meetings against Aston Villa at Villa Park, outscoring them, 8-1.

For Spurs to extend their dominance against the Villans, they will need to get another solid performance from Harry Kane. He curled in a magnificent angled right-foot finish in the draw against Arsenal. Kane has now scored 14 goals in 18 Premier League London derbies. He leads Spurs in scoring this season with 17 league goals to his name.

Apart from Kane having a great game, Tottenham also need to improve on their play on the defensive end. With their 3-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday, Spurs have now conceded six goals in their last three matches. That’s quite disappointing for Tottenham who own the Premier League’s best defensive record, allowing just 24 goals this campaign.

Writer’s Prediction

Tottenham (-235) cruise past Aston Villa, 3-0.
