Betting on the Florida Gators (-7.5)

The pressure is on the Florida Gators for this rivalry game. There are a lot of things on the line for them here, while the Bulldogs have nothing to lose. Hence, expect the 14th-ranked Gators to (hopefully) play like their season is on the line.

A reason for concern, though, is the current form of quarterback Luke Del Rio. Yes, he’s back, but his return from injury in the win over Missouri was pathetic, throwing for 236 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. You can blame that ugly performance to rustiness, so expect a better version of Del Rio to come out against Georgia.

Meanwhile, the Gators are playing superb defense again. They’ve allowed just 20 points combined in their previous two games. The secondary tandem of Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson has been getting it done, and both should make life tough for Georgia’s Jacob Eason to locate any of his receivers.

Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (+7.5)

It’s been a rough time for the Georgia Bulldogs lately, losing three of their last four games. The latest one was against Vanderbilt, a game in which their offense, particularly the running game was nowhere to be found as both Nick Chubb and Sony Michel combined for just 68 yards rushing and zero touchdowns.

The Georgia defense was at least solid enough to keep them in the game, limiting the Commodores to 171 offensive yards. Repeating that effort in this weekend’s highly-anticipated annual rivalry matchup with the Gators would be very huge for the Bulldogs, who have yet to find some consistency on offense. They have done well really well in stopping the run, surrendering just 111.1 yards per game.

Ultimately, the Bulldogs’ fate in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party depends on Chubb and Michel. Quarterback Jacob Eason, who passed for 346 yards and one touchdown against Vanderbilt, will be taking on a tough Florida pass rush, thus both running backs need to carry some of the offensive load, too.
