FAVORITES

Denny Hamlin (+450)

It feels good to be Denny Hamlin right now. Apart from the fact that he’s second in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series standings with 634 points, he’s also copped the top spot of the standings in terms of wins. He snared the checkered flag last week at the Super Start Batteries 400 at Kansas Speedway for his fifth win of 2020. The good times could continue to roll for Hamlin this week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he has a fantastic track record. He has three wins there and 10 top 5s in 26 career starts.

Kyle Busch (+600)

Busch is still looking for this first win of the season, but at least he’s been consistently good of late. After finishing 21st at the Quaker State 400, Busch went runner-up at the All Star Race, fourth at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500, and 11th at the Super Start Batteries 400. It’s also hard to ignore his success at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he has three wins and 11 top 5s in 28 career starts there. He owns a 12.61 career average finish on that track.

Kevin Harvick (+375)

It seems that if Harvick isn’t winning, he’s finishing with still great results. Excluding the All Star Race, Harvick has finished inside the top five in each of his last six starts. Last week, he finished fourth at the Super Start Batteries 400. If his past performances at New Hampshire Motor Speedway was any indication, it appears as though he’s about to extend his streak of top-five finishes. Harvick has two wins and three top 10s in his last four starts at there, dating back to 2017.

SLEEPERS

Jimmie Johnson (+5000)

Johnson is a seven-time Cup champion, so no matter how much he struggles this season, he’s going to demand attention. Johnson, who finished 32nd last week in Kansas City, is in urgent need of success if he wants to make the playoffs in his last season as a full-time driver. Johnson has three wins at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, 10 top 5s, and 22 top 10s. The last time he won there, though, was in 2010 during that year’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301.

Matt Kenseth (+5000)

Kenseth has been decent of late, as he’s not finished worst than 18th in any of his last three starts. That’s nothing to write home about but at least that does not qualify as utterly bad. Kenseth must be looking forward to racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, as he’s always been good there. He has three wins and 12 top 5s in 37 career starts on that track.

LONG SHOT

Michael McDowell (odds)

You may remember McDowell for recently pissing off Bubba Wallace. You won’t certainly associate his name with success at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, as his best finish there in 17 career starts was a 17th in last year’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. That’s also his only top-20 finish there to date.

Writer’s Prediction

Denny Hamlin wins the 2020 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301.
