Betting on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (12-16 Overall / 4-11 Conference)

The Yellow Jackets are back to their losing ways again. After stopping a seven-game losing streak with a 73-65 home win over the Pittsburgh Panthers, the Yellow Jackets fell prey to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, 80-65. Against the ‘Canes, Georgia Tech saw its offense the team once again, as the Yellow Jackets shot just 33.3 percent from the field and went 7-for-21 from the 3-point area. Perhaps even more debilitating to them was the fact that they had 16 turnovers. Errors has often been a problem for Georgia Tech this season. It is one of the wort in the nation when it comes to ball security, as the team is 311th overall with 15.0 turnovers per game. Their turnover-prone ways are hurting their offense. The Yellow Jackets are only 15th in the league in offensive efficiency. If they are to win against Virginia, it’ll have to be because of their defense that ranks 30th in the nation with just 64.9 points allowed per contest.

The over is 3-1 in Georgia Tech’s last four games.

Betting on the Virginia Cavaliers (24-2 Overall / 12-2 Conference)

After trailing 10 points at the half, the Cavaliers woke up and played like the serious national title contender they are against the Louisville Cardinals on the road. De’Andre Hunter led the Cavs with 26 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the field in Virginia’s 64-52 win over Louisville. Despite Kyle Guy scoring just eight points and Ty Jerome coming up with only four points, the Cavaliers managed to weather the salty offensive nights of two of their top guns thanks to the team’s defense. After allowing 37 points to the Cardinals in the first half, Virginia rolled up its sleeve in the second half and surrendered just 15 points to Louisville in the final 20 minutes of the ball game. This isn’t surprising anymore. After all, Virginia is tops in the nation in scoring defense with just 54.6 points allowed per game. Opponents are also shooting just 37.7 percent from the field against the Cavs.

Virginia is 8-2 straight up (SU) and 6-4 against the spread (ATS) in its last 10 home games against Georgia Tech.

Writer’s Prediction

Virginia wins, 69-47.
