Betting on the Golden State Warriors (TBA)

As if we needed more reasons as for why the Golden State Warriors are the odds-on favorites at -140 to win the NBA title this season, they put on another clinical offensive performance on Monday by obliterating the visiting Indiana Pacers, 142-106.

It was the second 140-point outing this season for the Warriors, who also have an NBA-best 18 wins through 21 games. The usual suspects for Golden State’s high-powered attack were present on Monday, with defending MVP Stephen Curry tallying a season-high 11 assists and prized offseason pickup Kevin Durant scoring 20 points and hauling in eight rebounds.

But the real story of the night was the team’s supposed third wheel in Klay Thompson, who went HAM on the Pacers for 60 freakin’ points – all in just 29 minutes of action and with no playing time in the fourth quarter at that when Golden State led by as much as 30 points already. Thompson’s hot hand will likely continue this Wednesday as he averaged 26.3 points on 54 percent shooting from downtown against the Clippers last season.

Not only that, but the Warriors have also won six-consecutive meetings with the Clippers (albeit just 3-3 ATS). Having said that, we don’t expect the Dubs’ freight train of doom to slow down anytime soon, especially against reeling Los Angeles. Which brings us to…

Betting on the Los Angeles Clippers (TBA)

Just when the Los Angeles Clippers have strung back-to-back, convincing road victories over the Cavaliers and Pelicans, they fall flat on their face at home Sunday in an ugly loss to the Indiana Pacers, 111-102. Los Angeles appeared to be on track to regain its early-season swagger, but now they’ve lost four of their last six games.

While star point guard Chris Paul had a pretty outstanding night (18 points, 11 assists), he was also accountable for five of his team’s whopping 20 turnovers to the team that the Warriors easily manhandled the night after.

Although the Clippers’ miscues led to their downfall, at least Blake Griffin still looked like the early MVP candidate that he’s been. The five-time All-Star nabbed his third-straight double-double by putting up 24 points and 16 boards along with five dimes on Sunday.

Griffin’s re-emergence as a top power forward in the league has nonetheless yielded fantastic results for the Clips, who currently remain ranked in the top 10 in terms of sheer offense (sixth with 108.7 points scored per game) and defense (seventh at 99.1 points allowed) alike.

Furthermore, Los Angeles has also won five of its last seven games at Staples, which means the team will be no pushover on Wednesday night versus mighty Golden State for sure. Then again, and much like the Warriors’ rather disappointing outcomes versus the odds, the Clippers are just 3-4 against the spread during that span, so you may want to opt for a moneyline bet instead for this blockbuster showdown.

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors with a huge road win against their toughest rivals in the conference thus far, 124-119.
