Betting on the Golden State Warriors (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 33-32

In Stephen Curry, the Warriors trust. In need of wins to secure a spot in the playoffs, the Warriors can feel confident in what the former two-time league MVP can do with the basketball. Over his last 10 games, Curry managed to put up 35.2 points on 48.7 percent shooting from the field. Aside from Curry, the Warriors are hoping for Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins to deliver the goods on both ends of the floor. The Warriors can surprise their opponents with their defense that has often been overlooked because of Curry’s exploits on offense. In fact, Golden State is third in the NBA so far this season in terms of forced turnovers, with opponents committing 15.4 errors per contest. With Curry as the focal point on offense and Green as the high-IQ facilitator, the Warriors can have their way against New Orleans’ defense which’s one of the worst in the NBA. The Pelicans are allowing 114.9 points per game, this season.

Betting on the New Orleans Pelicans (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 29-36

Like the Warriors, New Orleans is growing desperate for wins, with the playoffs approaching fast. Even though they are on the outside looking in of the playoff picture, the Pels have the look of a dangerous team that can take down anybody. That’s primarily because they have Zion Williamson, who’s one of the most unstoppable forces in the NBA today. The former Duke Blue Devils star is averaging 27.0 points this season on 61.6 percent shooting from the field. His blend of bulk, mobility, and athleticism is a troubling formula for opponents, who simply can’t just focus their defense on Williamson. New Orleans also has the likes of Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Eric Bledsoe fueling the team’s offense that’s averaging 115.3 points per game. Rebounding is another strength of this team. The Pelicans are first in the NBA in offensive rebound percentage and second in defensive rebound percentage.

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors win, 118-114.
