Betting on the Green Bay Packers (+3)

Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones were not going to let the Packers go down a 0-2 hole to start the season. The two were sensational in the Packers’ 35-17 win over the Detroit Lions last Monday. Rodgers recovered from a poor performance in Week 1’s loss to Jameis Winston and the New Orleans Saints, while Jones exploded with four touchdowns — three receiving and one rushing. The 49ers’ defense will be a challenge for the Packers, but having seen Rodgers show that he’s still got it, it’s hard to doubt his ability to shred any type of defense. San Francisco knows all about it. After all, Rodgers has passed for 18 touchdowns against only two interceptions in the last eight games in the regular season versus the 49ers. Over that stretch, Rodgers has accumulated an incredible 106.9 passer rating. That’s the highest among all quarterbacks with at least 100 pass attempts against the 49ers in the Super Bowl era.

Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (-3)

Regular Season Record: 2-0

The 49ers took Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles down in Week 2 in a 17-11 victory. Jimmy Garoppolo went 22/30 for 189 passing yards and a touchdown without an interception, while playing in all offensive snaps. Some expected to see Trey Lance get at least a few snaps after playing in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions, but he was kept on the bench by Kyle Shanahan, who showed a lot of trust in Jimmy G. So far this season, San Francisco is averaging 29.0 points per game, though that’s a bit skewed by the team’s 41-33 win over the Lions back in Week 1. One thing to know about the 49ers is that the 49ers have won six of their last nine meetings with Green Bay. Containing Rodgers will never be easy, but the Niners can slow the Packers QB down. Nick Bosa will be waiting for Rodgers in Santa Clara after recording a pair of sacks in the Eagles game. Here’s a fun fact: The Niners are 9-2 all-time in games where Bosa managed to record a sack.
