Betting on the Houston Rockets (TBA)

The Rockets are coming off an entertaining showdown with the Warriors, as the two highest-scoring offenses didn’t disappoint and provided a 132-127 double-OT thriller. With the win, James Harden and company halted the Dubs’ 12-game winning streak.

Harden delivered an MVP type of performance, notching his fourth triple-double  of the season with 29 points, 15 rebounds, and 13 assists. His two partners in dialing it up from downtown, Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon, also contributed big, as the two combined for 52 points and nine threes, most of which came in the crucial parts of the final period and overtime.

As they look ahead in continuing their offensive tear, we can expect those three guys to keep on giving a barrage of threes. With the help of the trio, along with Trevor Ariza, the team is tied for first with the Cavaliers in threes per game, with 13.8.

Against the Nuggets’ 19th-ranked defense, the Rockets shouldn’t have problems executing their offense.

The Rockets are 8-5 SU (11-2 ATS) in their 13 games on the road this season.

Betting on the Denver Nuggets (TBA)

The Nuggets fell flat against the Heat Wednesday night. In the 106-98 loss, they were consistently inconsistent and produced a very up and down 30, 17, 33, and 18 scoring per quarter. Friday’s match with the visiting Rockets will be big since it’ll be their last outing before entering a six-game road trip.

Battling one of the best offenses in the league can always be a tough challenge, but expect the Nuggets to go toe-to-toe, as they also have a competitive scoring attack. They are ninth in the NBA in points per game, with 106.5.

Leading the way this season is the returning Wilson Chandler, who missed all of last year due to a hip injury. The nine-year veteran is enjoying a strong start, and he’s averaging 21.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in his last eight games. Against a lazy Rockets defense, he should be able to produce some good numbers.

Look for Danilo Gallinari (16.8 PPG), Emmanuel Mudiay (14.3 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 4.3 RPG), and Jameer Nelson (19.7 PPG, 8.0 APG in his last three) to also join in the scoring.

The team’s men in the middle, Kenneth Faried, Nikola Jokic, and Jusuf Nurkic, could have a fascinating matchup with the Rockets’ own big men, as they bring a similar energy to the game.

The Nuggets are 3-7 SU (4-6 ATS) in their last 10 games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

The Rockets win, 115-103.
