Regular Season Record: 10-4
The Colts are coming off a 27-20 win over the Houston Texans to win their third win in a row. Colts quarterback Philip Rivers passed for 228 yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 22-of-28 completions, while running back Jonathan Taylor rushed 16 times for 83 yards and a touchdown. The rookie Taylor is having quite a stretch. He‘s rushed for 414 yards and three touchdowns in his last four games, and he might have another solid outing on Sunday against Pittsburgh’s defense that has been showing cracks of late. In Pittsburgh’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15, the Steelers allowed 152 rushing yards and two touchdowns to the Bengals’ Joe Mixon-less backfield. The Colts’ defense also spells trouble for the Steelers’ attack that’s currently struggling. The Colts are third in the NFL with 1.3 takeaways per game.
The Colts, who are averaging 28.5 points, are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games on the road.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (+1.5)
Regular Season Record: 11-2
There’s been so much focus on the poor play of Ben Roethlisberger during the Steelers’ losing skid, which got extended to three games after losing to the Cincinnati Bengals on the road last Monday, 27-17, but Pittsburgh’s rushing attack also needs to get scrutinized. The Steelers have averaged just 55.5 rushing yards with only a rushing touchdown to show over their last four games. Although they have missed the services of James Conner in the past few games due to a quad issue, the Steelers should be doing better in that area. Help could be on the way, though, as James Conner is being considered to return in Week 16 against the Colts. It’s all about getting on the same page for the Steelers, who started the season like a house on fire. The Colts’ defense is stout, but Pittsburgh has the weapons it needs to break that down. On defense, Pittsburgh’s pass rush will be a huge challenge for the Colts’ offensive line. The Steelers have 47 sacks on the season, the most in the NFL.
The under is 3-1 in the Steelers’ last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Colts win, 24-23.
