Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (5-2)
If it hasn’t been made clear yet by Indianapolis, allow us to say his louder for those in the back: the Colts are just fine with Jacoby Brissett under center. Brissett is not that flashy of a quarterback, but he’s getting the job done for the Colts’ offense. In Indianapolis’ 15-13 win over the Denver Broncos at home last Sunday, Brissett had 202 passing yards on only 15-of-25 completions, but he was able to lead his team deep enough for scoring opportunities. They would have had scored more if Adam Vinatieri didn’t miss a field-goal attempt and an extra-point kick. In any case, Brissett will always have running back Marlon Mack to help him move the chains. Mack could be due for a solid performance in Pittsburgh against the Steelers’ defense that is only 15th in the league with 103.0 rushing yards allowed per game and 0.6 rushing scores given up per contest. The Colts’ defense can be stingy too, with a pass rush that is 10th overall with a 7.57 defensive sack percentage.
The Colts are 4-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-4)
The Steelers saved themselves from being the biggest laughing stock of Week 8 by averting a disaster in a 27-14 come-from-behind win over the Miami Dolphins at home. Quarterback Mason Rudolph was not himself in the first half of the contest but got it together later on, finishing with 251 passing yards and a couple of touchdowns with an interception on 20-of-36 completions. Running back James Conner went wild with 145 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 receptions also. Conner’s status for the Colts game is a bit uncertain after hurting his shoulder in Week 8’s win. Conner has been limited in practice to start the week, and more will be known about his availability for the game as Sunday nears. The Steelers have Jaylen Samuels on standby as the possible lead back in case Conner will not be able to suit up. Samuels has missed games after undergoing a knee scope but is now apparently fully healthy.
The Steelers are 5-4-1 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Colts win, 20-17.
