Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-8)

Jacksonville is among the biggest letdowns of this season, but last Sunday, the Jaguars reminded people how good they can be, especially on defense. Cody Kessler didn’t move the needle much for the Jags’ offense as the starter in lieu of the benched Blake Bortles, but Jacksonville didn’t need him that much, as he the Jags held the Colt scoreless in a 6-0 win at home. Kessler went 18 of 24 for 150 yards, and while he didn’t find anyone in the end zone, he didn’t commit an interception either. The Jaguars sacked Andrew Luck three times for a loss of 24 yards and intercepted him once. Tennessee is going to be in big trouble if the Jaguar are going to show up in Week 14 with the same effectiveness and tenacity. In the first meeting with the Titans back in Week 3, Jacksonville held Tennessee down to only 233 total yards.

The over is the Jaguars’ last three road games.

Betting on the Tennessee Titans (6-6)

The Titans prevented suffering three-straight defeats by taking down the New York Jets last Sunday at home. Granted that it’s just the Jets they beat, the Titans still needs to be commended for their defense, as they held New York quarterback Josh McCown down to only 124 passing yards. The Titans also sacked McCown twice and intercepted him once. However, they allowed the Jets to rush for 156 yards with running back Isaiah Crowell collecting 98 rushing yards on 21 carries, so that’s one area the Titans will have to fix right away, especially on a short week. Speaking of the backfield, the Titans found success on the ground against the Jags in the first meeting, with running back Derrick Henry compiling 57 rushing yards on 18 carries and quarterback Marcus Mariota taking off for 51 rushing yards on seven rushing attempts. The Titans are 16th in the NFL with 117.5 rushing yards per game, though, they need the passing attack to open up things for them on the ground, as that average looked very inefficient when one considers the fact that they are third in the NFL with a 47.59 rushing play percentage.

Tennessee is 6-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Tennessee wins, 21-17.
