Kansas City Chiefs vs Oakland Raiders Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview – NFL Week 13 – December 2, 2018

It’s hard not to feel pity for the Oakland Raiders, who will welcome the well-rested Kansas City Chiefs (+450 to win Super Bowl 53) at home in Week 13. The Chiefs are eager to bounce back after losing to the Los Angeles Rams in a barn burner of a game, while the Raiders (+200,000 to win Super Bowl 53) just want a win any way they can get it.

Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (9-2)

The Chiefs are probably still smoking despite an extended rest thanks to a Week 12 bye. Prior to those extra days of rest, they engaged the Los Angeles Rams in a game for the ages, but came out on the wrong side, losing to Jared Goff and company in Week 11, 54-51. Nevertheless, the Chiefs’ performance in that game only underscores what all of us know by know: this team can straight up score – a lot. Patrick Mahomes nearly burned his hands when he went 33 of 46 for 478 passing yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions against the Rams. Two of his interceptions broke the camel’s back for the Chiefs as they happened late in the contest, but he should have an easier time terrorizing Oakland’s defense. The Raiders have among the worst defenses in the league, allowing opponents to score an average of 29.7 points and tally 390.0 total yards per game, 30th and 26th in the NFL, respectively. On the flip side, the Chiefs are putting up 36.7 points and 434.3 total yards per contest.

The Chiefs are 6-0-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven road games.

Betting on the Oakland Raiders (2-9)

The Raiders picked up another loss last Sunday, as they got victimized by the Baltimore Ravens on the road, 34-17. It’s probably time for the Raiders to rest Carr than risk him to injury in an already obvious lost season, but it looks like they’re going to continue starting him. Against the Ravens, Carr had 194 passing yards and a touchdown on an inefficient 16-of-34 completions. He got dinged up good by too by the Ravens, who sacked him three times for a loss of 12 yards. It’s the Raiders’ defense, however, that is a big concern for the team heading into a showdown with the high-flying Chiefs. Their defense against the run in particular needs more than a strip of duct tape after getting pummeled for 242 rushing yards by Ravens dual-threat quarterback Lamar Jackson and company. Mahomes can run the ball, too, finding a way to get to the Chiefs pocket will be crucial for Oakland, which, unfortunately, is last in the NFL in sacks with 10.

The under is 5-2 in the Raiders’ last seven home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Kansas City tortures Oakland in a 37-21 win.
