Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats (21-6 Overall / 11-3 Conference)

Kansas State handed Oklahoma State a good ol’ fashioned butt whooping on Saturday, winning by a total of 39 points (85-46) and blowing the spread out of the water. Cowboys Mike Boynton head coach found this team down 8-0 in the first three minutes, then called a timeout to no avail, as the Wildcats added 7 more points for a 15-0 start. There was no looking back as Kansas State was firing on all defensive and offensive cylinders with five players scoring double figures. With the game in the pocket early, Wildcats starters got to rest for much of second half allowing the bench to flex its muscle (and depth) by pouring in 38 points. This will keep the starters fresh and bench confident for a more competitive matchup this Monday – against the Jayhawks. A Big 12 Championship is so close that Kansas State can practically taste it, and they’ll be looking to make an example of their local rival.

On the road so far this season, Kansas State is 6-4 straight up (SU) and 7-3 against the spread (ATS). KS is also 13-7 ATS in games after a win.

Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (20-7 Overall / 9-5 Conference)

The 12th ranked Kansas Jayhawks didn’t have the same kind of Saturday as their rival. The 14th ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders led 45-20 by the end of the first half, and finished off the Jayhawks just as strong, winning 91-62. Kansas forward Dedric Lawson once again led his team in scoring, but with a paltry 14-points on 3-of-8 shooting in this showing. No other Kansas player put up double digits as Texas Tech defense shut them all down. The Red Raiders also had free reign from the field and paint, as Kansas defense was no where to be found, allowing four players to score in double digits. This heavy loss has a major impact on the intense Big 12 race, as Kansas now falls behind both Kansas State and Texas Tech with four games remaining in league play.

When playing at home so far this season, Kansas is 18-0 SU and 10-8 ATS, and are 4-2 ATS after a loss.

Writer’s Prediction

Kansas State wins in a close one, 69-67, and closes its grip on the Big 12.
