Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (25-5, 15-2 SEC)
Kentucky traumatized the Aggies the last time the two teams met, and this Saturday, the Wildcats will look to add to Texas A&M’s bad memory of them when they pay College Station a visit. Kentucky is 2-0 SU and ATS in the last two games against the Aggies.
The Wildcats, who extended their win streak to seven games after defeating Vanderbilt on Tuesday, 73-67, were barely touched in their 100-58 rout of the Aggies on Jan. 3 in Lexington. Although the rematch will occur in College Station, the huge margin of victory in the first meeting suggests that home court advantage is virtually immaterial for the Aggies against a powerhouse like Kentucky.
Malik Monk scored 26 points with five three-pointers against the Aggies in that game, while De’Aaron Fox added 15 points with five rebounds and six assists.
Kentucky’s defense has grown sharper of late, allowing just 65.0 points in their last three games with opponents shooting just 38.9%.
Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (16-13, 8-9 SEC)
Texas A&M is out to prove that it’s better than the team that lost by 42 points to Kentucky in an earlier meeting. The Aggies played like a drunken version of Johnny Manziel in that game, as they committed 25 turnovers.
Those turnovers will have to be cut down by the Aggies. Kentucky’s not going to waste easy opportunities off its opponents’ errors with the Wildcats ranking 13th in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency. One thing about the Aggies is that they defend well around the basket. They block 15.5% of their opponents’ shots at the rim and are 14th in the nation in blocks with 5.7 per contest. They had seven blocks in the previous showdown with the Wildcats.
The Aggies head into Saturday’s game on the heels of a 60-43 win over Missouri on Feb. 28. Tonny Trocha-Morelos led the team with 18 points is now averaging 10.2 PPG. He is putting up 8.4 PPG on the season. Tyler Davis paces the team this season with 14.1 PPG, while Robert Williams leads the Aggies in rebounds (7.9) and blocks (2.6).
The under is 5-1 in the Aggies’ last six home games.
