The Chicago Bears (+4000 to win Super Bowl 54) will look to prevent a three-game losing streak when they host the also-struggling Los Angeles Chargers (+20,000 to win Super Bowl 54) at Soldier Field in Week 8. The Chargers, on the other hand, are hoping to return in the win column after losing all of their last three contests. Which team will stop the bleeding?

Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (2-5)
Melvin Gordon’s return is supposed to inject fire to the Chargers’ offense. Instead, the running back became the latest example of the team’s offensive woes, particularly when they’re on the doorstep. Gordon fumbled the ball at the goal-line near the end of the game in a 23-20 road loss to the Tennessee Titans. A painful way to lose indeed for the Chargers, who have five turnovers on situations in which they were directly in front of the end zone this season. Gordon finished with just 32 rushing yards on 16 carries, while as a team, the Chargers only had 39 rushing yards on 21 total carries. Keenan Allen was barely a factor again, as the wide receiver caught four passes for 61 yards without a touchdown. Defenses will always be attracted to the talented wideout, but Hunter Henry’s return is giving opponents reason to loosen up a bit on Allen. In his second game back from an injury, Henry had 97 receiving yards on six catches and eight targets.
The under is 7-3 in the Chargers’ last 10 games.
Betting on the Chicago Bears (3-3)
The Bears will have to act quickly if they are to turn their season around Back-to-back losses to the Oakland Raiders and the New Orleans Saints came just when the Minnesota Vikings were having success and the Green Bay Packers continuing their dominance. In their 36-25 home loss to the Saints last Sunday, the Bears’ defense couldn’t stop a Drew Brees-less and Alvin Kamara-less New Orleans offense. The Bears may have Khalil Mack, but they have now given up 50 points over their last two games. However, dealing with the Chargers, who have issues of their own on offense, could be just what the doctor ordered for Chicago, which is still fifth in the NFL with only 17.5 points allowed per game. The Bears’ offense will have to step up too, especially when it comes to their ground attack in both performance and workload after the Saints game in which it produced just 17 rushing yards.
The Bears are 6-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bears win, 23-17.
