The Los Angeles Chargers clobbered the Chicago Bears the last time they were on the field, scoring a 49-29 home win before heading into their Week 9 bye. The San Francisco 49ers, on the other hand, aren’t exactly doing just as well as the Chargers. Green Bay has gone winless in five games now, following a 15-9 embarrassing loss at the hands of the Detroit Lions on the road last Sunday. Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (+7.0)
Regular Season Record: 5-3
The Chargers definitely are a threat to the 49ers, especially when they’re healthy. The problem is that they are not, with plenty of key players injured, including wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. That said, if those guys get the go signal to play on Sunday, that will be a huge boost for LA’s offense which still managed to unload 336 total yards on the Falcons. That’s what terrific pass protection can do, with the Chargers ranking No. 1 in the NFL with just a 2.77 percent offensive sack rate.
The Chargers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games away from home.
Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (-7.0)
Regular Season Record: 4-4
The 49ers finally got the real Christian McCaffrey experience in Week 8, his second game with the team. The do-it-all running back rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and caught eight passes for 55 yards and a touchdown against the Rams. Not only that but he also threw for a touchdown. Having CMC makes San Francisco even scarier offensively, as the Niners already have the likes of Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Deebo Samuel, who should be ready to go in Week 10 after missing Week 8 with a hamstring issue. The 49ers are averaging 22.0 points per game and are seventh in the NFL with a 44.3 percent third-down conversion rate.
The 49ers are 6-1 in their last seven games against teams with a winning record.
Writer’s Prediction
The Chargers win, 27-24.
