The Los Angeles Chargers will look to extend their win streak and improve their 5-2 record when they take on the dumpster on fire that is the Oakland Raiders this coming weekend. The Raiders are 1-7, and it’s going to take a miracle of biblical proportions for them to win the AFC title with odds of +100,000 to do just that. As for the Chargers, they are +1,500 to win Super Bowl 53.

Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (6-2)
The Chargers electrocuted another opponent on Sunday, as they beat the Seattle Seahawks on the road, 25-17. It was the Bolts’ fifth win in a row, and they came away with that thanks to their offense that continues to puzzle their opponents. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers went 13-of-26 for 228 passing yards and two touchdowns, while running back Melvin Gordon rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. The Chargers’ offense spread opposing defenses in a way few others can, largely because of their balanced and equally effective passing and rushing attacks. The Chargers are 12th in the league in passing yards with 270.4 per game and fifth on the ground with 128.9 rushing yards per contest. Rivers has been aging like fine wine, as the veteran enters Week 10 with 2,236 passing yards and 19 touchdowns against just three interceptions, while also keeping a 116.5 passer rating so far this season. Expect Rivers to be just as effective – if not better – this coming Sunday opposite what seems to be a toothless Raiders’ pass rush that is not only suffering from the departure of Khalil Mack but is also starting life without Bruce Irvin, whom Oakland just recently waived.
The Chargers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games
Betting on the Oakland Raiders (1-7)
Things find a way to get worse each passing week for the Raiders. Back in Week 9’s Thursday Night Football showdown with Bay Area rivals San Francisco 49ers, the Raiders were treated like a personal punching bag by an unknown quarterback, who was making his pro debut, in the form of Nick Mullens, in a 34-3 road loss. If the Raiders are going to have any chance of beating the Chargers, they can start improving their odds by finding a way to fix their horrendous offensive line that nearly got quarterback Derek Carr killed in the Niners game. Carr was sacked seven times for a loss of 32 yards. He finished the contest with just 171 passing yards and had to be subbed out in favor of AJ McCarron. There’s some life in the Raiders’ backfield, though, as evidenced by the 102 rushing yards they pumped out against San Francisco. Oakland can test early the Chargers’ run defense to see if the team can have any success. After all, Los Angeles allowed 154 rushing yards to the Seahawks last week. Moreover, the Chargers have surrendered an average of 140.3 rushing yards over their last three games – the eighth most in the league during that span.
The over is 2-0 in Oakland’s last two home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Los Angeles wins, 33-20.
