Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (-1.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-1
In a battle of undefeated teams on Sunday, it was the Rams who blinked first, as they lost to the Arizona Cardinals at home, 37-20. The loss deflated the momentum of the Rams, who, a week earlier, defeated the reigning Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home. Perhaps a change of scenery will help Los Angeles recover from its failure to contain Kyler Murray in Week 4. The Rams are 5-1 against the spread in its last six games following a loss, and while the Seahawks are no pushovers, Los Angeles does seem to have the more balanced game between the two. Matthew Stafford, who passed for 280 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 26/41 completions against the Cardinals, will have Van Jefferson, Cooper Kupp, and Robert Woods putting pressure on Seattle’s porous pass defense. And then there’s running back Darrell Henderson Jr., who can look forward to puncturing Seattle’s run defense that saw previous running backs run all over it.
The Rams are 23-9-1 against the spread in their last 33 games versus NFC teams.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (+1.5)
Regular Season Record: 2-2
Seattle stopped its bleeding with a 28-21 win in Santa Clara over the weekend against the San Francisco 49ers. Prior to that, the Seahawks lost to the Tennessee Titans in Week 2 and to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. The win over the 49ers is another proof that as long as the Seahawks have Russell Wilson, they will always be in a position to win any game. Wilson passed for 149 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 16/23 completions while also adding a rushing score. The Seahawks are going to need Wilson to be in his vintage form to beat the Rams. Given how Kyler Murray AKA Russell Wilson 2.0 dominated the Rams’ defense, there’s certainly hope that Wilson can have his way against LA. Running back Alex Collins is also emerging to be a player to watch out for after leading the team with 44 rushing yards and a touchdown and getting two targets in the San Francisco game.
The Seahawks are 12-4 against the spread in their last 16 games as the underdog.
