When in doubt, LSU can turn to Leo Fournette. Fournette appeared to be NFL-ready in just his sophomore year, when he rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns. Opposing defenses (not named Alabama) couldn’t handle Fournette and that should remain the case this year with he’s expected to be better and stronger than ever in his college career.

Apart from Fournette, the Tigers will draw strength from a loaded stop unit that features All-SEC cornerback Tre’Davious White and linebacker Kendell Beckwith. LSU is +900 to win the national title.

Team Weaknesses

The passing game has to improve for LSU, as the Tigers can’t afford to be fully reliant on Fournette to move the chains.  Last season, the Tigers were just 106th in the nation with 179.8 passing yards per game. Passing plays consisted just 36.80% of the Tigers in 2015.

Quarterback Brandon Harris has to show he’s capable of delivering plays via air for the team and he should get help from a couple of returning receivers in Malachi Dupre and Travin Dural, who combined for 1,231 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

2015 Team Stats

Category Stat (Rank)
Points per game 32.8 (#37)
Passing yards per game 180.4 (#103)
Rushing yards per game 256.8 (#7)
Scoring defense  24.2 (#35)
