Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies (odds)
Regular Season Record: 38-33
Despite resting a bunch of their starters, the Grizzlies still managed to find a way to score a 107-107 win at home over the Sacramento Kings last Friday. The Grizzlies are now riding a five-game undefeated streak heading into Sunday’s duel with the Warriors. Memphis won the last meeting against the Warriors, with Jonas Valancuinas showing the Grizzlies the way. The Lithuanian big man scored 19 points to go with 15 rebounds. Dillon Brooks also had 19 points in that game. Valanciunas could have another big game against the Warriors, with Golden State missing a legitimate center to contend with him in the middle. The Grizzlies have averaged 116.0 points on 49.2 field goal percentage in their last five games. Brooks led the team in scoring during that stretch with 22.3 points per contest.
The Grizzlies, who are No. 1 in the NBA with 56.0 points in the paint per game, are 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 contests.
Betting on the Golden State Warriors (odds)
Regular Season Record: 38-33
The Warriors also rested their starters in their last game but still came away with a 125-122 home win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. Like the Grizzlies, the Warriors are also 5-0 straight up in their last game, with a couple of wins coming at the expense of some of the top teams in the league in the form of the Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns. Stephen Curry and company are expected to return from their one-game rest this Sunday, and hopefully, for the Warriors, the two-time league MVP is still hot. Curry has averaged 35.0 points on 45.7 FG% in his last four games. Andrew Wiggins has also stepped up of late, having scored 22.0 points on over 51 percent shooting from the floor in his last four appearances. In the Warriors’ 116-103 road win over Memphis back on March 19, Wiggins exploded for 40 points, while Jordan Poole had 25 to buck the absence of Curry (bruised tailbone) in that game.
The Warriors are 5-0 against the spread in their last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Grizzlies win, 116-114.
