Nevada Wolf Pack vs Fresno State Bulldogs Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Basketball Betting Preview – January 12 2019

The No. 10 Nevada Wolf Pack are the best team in the Mountain West, but they don’t own the best record in the conference. Instead, it’s the Fresno State Bulldogs, who are currently on top of the league with a clean 3-0 SU conference record. Will Nevada (+1,800 to win the national title) be the first MW team to beat the Bulldogs this season? Or will Fresno State (+200,000) score a huge upset win at home?

Betting on the Nevada Wolf Pack (15-1 Overall / 2-1 Conference)

The Wolf Pack saw their unbeaten run this season came to crashing end last weekend, when they lost to the New Mexico Lobos on the road, 85-58. It’s not a typo. That’s really how many points Nevada lost to a team that’s not even ranked inside KenPom’s top 150. But that’s just how things go sometimes in college basketball. Nevada need to regroup and forget that loss, and a game this Wednesday against the lowly San Jose State Spartans should be just what the doctor ordered for the dinged egos of the Wolf Pack. Nevada is currently 33rd in the nation with an average of 80.5 points per game and 66th in defense with just 67.4 points surrendered per game. A  Nevada win over San Jose State would only further stress the point that the Wolf Pack’s loss to New Mexico was more an anomaly than anything else.

Nevada is 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last four road games.

Betting on the Fresno State Bulldogs (12-3 Overall / 3-0 Conference)

After losing to the Utah Valley Wolverines on Dec. 29, the Bulldogs have gone 3-0 SU in their next three games. That stretch includes a close 78-77 win over the Utah State Aggies on the road on Wednesday. Fresno State went buck wild again from behind the arc, as they went 15-for-31 from deep against the Aggies. Braxton Huggins, who woke up on Wednesday with an average of 17.8 points per contest, led the Bulldogs with 33 points on the strength of eight 3-pointers on 13 attempts. Fresno State is a dangerous team to face, especially when it gets hot from the outside. The Bulldogs are 34th nationally with 9.6 3-pointers per game and they are shooting 37.5 percent from there this season. Nevada is currently 58th in the nation with an average of 58.5 points per game and 45th in defense with just 65.8 points given up per contest.

Fresno State is 4-2 ATS in its last six home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Nevada wins, 77-70.
