Betting on the Nevada Wolf Pack (21-5)
The Wolf Pack are on a roll again. After losing to the UNLV Rebels on Feb.7, Nevada has reaped off back-to-back wins over the San Diego State Aztecs and Boise State Broncos, respectively, to gather new momentum heading into a rematch with the Aggies this coming Saturday. The Wolf Pack defeated the Aggies convincingly on Jan. 13 at home, 83-57, with Kendall Stephens coming off the bench and pacing the team with 19 points.
The Wolf Pack are one of the best scoring teams on average in the nation, and they could be expected to repeat such offensive brilliance against Utah State. The Aggies are putting up 82.9 points per game on 46.8 percent shooting from the field. Caleb Martin, who had 15 points in the first meeting with the Aggies, is leading the team with 19.4 points per game.
Nevada is 3-0 ATS in its last three meetings with the Aggies.
Betting on the Utah State Aggies (14-12)
If the Aggies are to beat Nevada, they will have to learn how to take care of the leather quick. The Aggies are coming off a 78-68 road loss to the New Mexico Lobos on Wednesday in which they also committed a dizzying total of 23 turnovers. In the first meeting with the Wolf Pack, Utah State shot itself in the foot repeatedly with 14 turnovers.
The Aggies are turning the ball over 12.9 times per game, and the last thing they want to do against a high-scoring team like Nevada is give it extra possessions. Sam Merill will also have to put up a better showing this Saturday than his five-point output in the loss to Nevada. After all, Merill is the team’s leading scorer with 15.4 points per game.
Utah State is 4-2 ATS in its last six games.
Writer’s Prediction:
Nevada wins again, 80-69.
