The spotlight is once again on Eli Manning as his New York Giants are in the midst of another disappointing three-game losing streak. The two-time winning Super Bowl quarterback has not been playing up to his usually high standards, but nothing but his best will be good enough if the Giants intend to upend the steadily improving Seattle Seahawks in the fortress that is CenturyLink Field.

With perennial contenders in the Giants and Seahawks falling off the pace this season, the Arizona Cardinals have risen to the top of the NFC. Check out our preview of the Cardinals’ next test against the Rams here. But first, read on for more on the Giants vs. Seahawks.

Betting on the New York Giants

Neither the bye week nor homefield advantage was able to help the New York Giants much as they fell to the Indianapolis Colts, 40-24, for their third consecutive loss, both SU and ATS. The final score wasn’t even an accurate reflection of how lopsided this game was. Two fourth quarter touchdowns brought the Giants to respectability after trailing by as much as 30 points earlier in the quarter.

[sc:NFL240banner ]Eli Manning got the chance to pad his stats in garbage time, and finished with a season-high 359 yards. However, he completed just 52 percent of his passes, in part because of bad drops by his receivers. Manning also continued to get very little help from his running game, which has been sorely missing lead back Rashad Jennings.

But there were some notable bright spots in the Giants’ offense. Rookie wideout Odell Beckham Jr. exploded with a career-high 156 yards – his first ever 100-yard game – and is starting to become a more integral part of the offense.

Also, tight end Larry Donnell scored his fifth touchdown of the season after a month-long dry spell. Donnell should be a dangerous red zone target against the Seahawks, who gave up two touchdowns to Oakland’s tight ends last week in large part because of the absence of their top linebackers.

However, the Giants have their own concerns to worry about on defense, with cornerback Prince Amukamara done for the season after tearing his biceps. Fellow corners Walter Thurmond and Trumaine McBride are also missing, while Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie remains limited. Luckily for the Giants, their patchwork secondary will face one of the least prolific passing offenses in the Seahawks.

Betting on the Seattle Seahawks

Russell+Wilson+Seattle+Seahawks+Pout

The Seattle Seahawks have clawed their way back from a shock two-game losing skid to win their last two games in a row. Granted, their two wins have come against the Panthers and Raiders, who have gone a combined 12 games without a win, but the Seahawks aren’t complaining.

The Seahawks have found a way to win even as their roster has been ravaged by an assortment of injuries, particularly on defense. Their missing personnel haven’t been as big of an issue though, as the defense has played well – possibly even better – in the past couple of weeks. They forced five total turnovers and allowed opposing offenses just 26 total points in their last two games.

While linebackers Bobby Wagner (turf toe) and Malcolm Smith (groin) are still set to miss out, defensive backs Kam Chancellor and Jeremy Lane are expected to return to the lineup against the Giants.

On offense, Russell Wilson was held without a touchdown as well as sub-50 percent pass completion for the first time this season by the Raiders. Fortunately, Marshawn Lynch finally went into Beast Mode as he ran for his first two touchdowns since Week 3.

Expect Wilson to have a bounce back night, especially against a decimated Giants secondary that’s giving up 273 yards per game, the fifth-worst mark in the NFL. Their decimated offensive line is also set to have center Max Unger and left tackle Russell Okung back in action, which should help greatly in pass protection and run blocking for Wilson and Lynch, respectively.

The Seahawks are 18-2 in their last 20 home games. However, they’ve failed to cover in their last two at home, and have lost against the spread in their last four games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

The Seahawks finally put together a complete performance as they blow out the Giants at home.
