Betting on the New York Jets (+16.5)
Regular Season Record: 4-12
All things considered, the Jets did a fantastic job in Week 17, relatively speaking. They lost by a small margin to the reigning Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home, 28-24, and even had the lead at the half and going into the fourth quarter. That should give the Jets a nice boost ahead of their meeting with the Buffalo Bills, who crushed New York in Week 10, 45-17. Zach Wilson was not able to play in that game, though, due to injury, leaving the passing attack in the hands of Mike White for the most part of the contest. White would do nothing but throw interceptions against the Bills, so the Jets are hoping they’d do better this time around with Wilson under center. Wilson passed for 234 yards and a touchdown with no interception on 19/33 completions against the Bucs.
The Jets are 3-0 against the spread in their last three games overall.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills (-16.5)
Regular Season Record: 10-6
Buffalo scored their third win in a row by taking down the Atlanta Falcons at home in Week 17, 29-15. Josh Allen and the Bills run the ball down Atlanta’s throat, finishing with 233 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Buffalo can go with that direction again against the Jets, considering how bad New York’s run defense is this season and the success the Bills had on the ground in the first meeting between these two teams. In their road win over the Jets, the Bills racked up 139 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on just 24 carries. Devin Singletary, Matt Breida, Zack Moss, and Isaiah McKenzie each scored on the ground. Singletary is coming off hot, having rushed for 110 yards and a couple of touchdowns on 23 carries against the Falcons. Defensively, the Bills will look forward to botting up Wilson the same way they did White.
The Bills are 5-4 against the spread in their last nine meetings with the Jets.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bills win, 28-14.
