Regular Season Record: 2-5
Without a doubt, the biggest shocker out of Week 8 is the Jets stunning the Cincinnati Bengals in a 34-31 win at home. Mike White made the start and totally earned it. White unloaded 405 passing yards and three touchdowns on 37/45 completions. He did throw two interceptions, but this being the Jets, that performance was enough to earn him a bronze statue. And it also likely won him another start against the Colts in Week 9. Rejuvenated and feeling good about themselves for the first time in a while, the Jets will look to build on their win when they head to Indianapolis. The Jets’ defense also elevated its play, allowing just 318 total yards to Cincy, almost 100 fewer than their average heading into Week 8.
The over is 4-0 in the Jets’ last four games overall.
Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (-10)
Regular Season Record: 3-5
The Colts failed to get their third win in a row after falling prey to the Tennessee Titans at home in Week 8, 34-31 (OT). Carson Wentz also threw three touchdowns like White last Sunday and goit picked off twice, but his errors were obviously more backbreaking. Nevertheless, the Colts are coming in as big favorites against New York in Week 9. The Colts are playing at home again and are clearly still the better team on both ends of the field than the Jets, despite the latter’s surprising success in Week 8. Indianapolis even limited Titans monster running back to only 68 yards on 28 carries. The Colts should be able to contain Jets running back Michael Carter. It could also be the Colts who expose the Jets as nothing more than a one-trick pony with White as New York’s quarterback.
The Colts are 2-1 against the spread in their last three games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
The Colts win, 28-16.
