Betting on the New York Yankees
The New York Yankees started a new two-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. Nathan Eovaldi was superb once again for New York, allowing just two runs on eight hits in eight innings of action. The Yankees will look to sustain the momentum from that huge victory when they take on the Texas Rangers later tonight.
[sc:MLB240banner ]Starting for the Yankees in the series opener is right-hander Ivan Nova (2-3, 3.34 ERA). Since returning from Tommy John surgery, Nova has worked six innings or more in three of his five starts. He was superb in his last start, allowing just two runs on three hits and three walks in six innings of action in New York’s 4-3 win against the Baltimore Orioles on July 22.
Expected to lead the Yankees’ offense tonight against the Rangers is the red-hot Alex Rodriguez. He is 6-for-22 in his last six games with four homers and six RBIs. Rodriguez has fared extremely well against Texas starter Matt Harrison in the past, going 5-of-12 (.417) lifetime against the left-hander with five RBIs.
The total has gone over in the Yankees’ last four road games.

Betting on the Texas Rangers
Texas had its four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 13-7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. Mike Trout and C.J. Cron both homered for Los Angeles as the Angels avoided the dreaded three-game sweep.
The Rangers will look to return to the win column tonight when they take on the streaking New York Yankees. Starting for Texas this evening is Matt Harrison (1-1, 5.40 ERA). Harrison earned his first Major League victory since May 8, 2014, in a 9-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. He allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out two in six innings of work. Harrison was simply spectacular in just his second start since coming off the disabled list this year. He induced 11 ground balls in a vintage performance, including a pair of timely double plays.
He can’t do it all alone, though, and he needs the Rangers’ offense to pick up the scoring slack as well. The onus is on star outfielder Josh Hamilton to carry the offensive load for Texas. He is 6-for-10 (.600) lifetime against New York starter Ivan Nova with three doubles and two RBIs.
The Rangers are 1-9 in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
