Picks and Predictions for the AFC / NFC Divisional Round Playoff Games for the 2019-2020 NFL Season
Tadd Haislop – Sporting News
|Tadd Haislop||49ers, Ravens, Chiefs, Packers|
Haislop has all the home teams in the divisional round winning their respective assignments. In the Vikings vs. 49ers matchup, Haislop is seeing a battle that will be won on the ground. Haislop praised the what Minnesota did in its win against the New Orleans Saints in the wild card round in which the Vikings was led by running back Dalvin Cook, who ran all over the Saints’ defense. The Sporting News writer thinks that Cool will cause headaches for San Francisco, but the Niners will be able to counter Cook with their own rushing attack. Between the two teams, the 49ers have the deeper set of running backs with the trio of Matt Breida, Tevin Coleman, and Raheem Mostert expected to share the role in the backfield.
NBC Sports/Bay Area
|NBC Sports/Bay Area||49ers, Ravens, Chiefs, Seahawks|
The guys over at the NBC Sports/Bay Area also think that the home teams will dominate in the divisional round — except for one: the Packers. NBC Sports Bay/Area believe that Russell Wilson has enough magic in him to carry the banged-up Seahawks past Green Bay. The Seahawks are missing their top two running backs in Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny, but Wilson has shown he can find ways to keep his team alive. With DK Metcalf quickly evolving into a star and Tyler Lockett and Jacob Hollister stepping up, Wilson may just have enough to light up Green Bay’s mediocre defense.
Gil Alcaraz – FanSided
|Gil Alcaraz||49ers, Ravens, Chiefs, Seahawks|
Gil Alcaraz of FanSided likes the story of the Titans — but not enough to say that they have what it takes to beat the Ravens, who finished the regular season with the top seed in the AFC. He just finds it difficult to go against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, who averaged 33.1 points in the regular season — the most in the league. Alcaraz knows that Mike Vrabel will have his Titans put up a valiant effort on defense, but thinks the Ravens have too dynamic of a quarterback for them to contain.
