NOTE: As you know by now the Titans / Steelers game will NOT be played in NFL Week 4, so consult your contest rules for information on how that is handled. For the TopBet NFL Survivor pool contest, the rule is any pick on the Steelers or Titans this week will result in your entry being eliminated, so we advise you to edit your pick asap if you have either of those teams picked.

NFL Survivor Pool Week 4 Picks
“Kamara Snack-Time“
Lions (1-2) vs Saints (1-2), Sunday
Friday line: Saints, -3.0 points
This isn’t the same Detroit run defense as the one from last year which featured super stuffer Damon “Snacks” Harrison. Sans Harrison, Saints’ multi-level high-octane weapon RB Alvin Kamara and capable “1b” mate Latavius Murray should both run wild. The Lions will be forced to hound the line of scrimmage, leaving their defensive backfield vulnerable to deep shots for TE Jared Cook and speed-burner WR Tre’Quan Smith. The Lions offense, while capable, does not scare this solid Saints D. QB Drew Brees and K Wil Lutz will enjoy the indoor climate-controlled comforts of the dome. Saints in a cakewalk.
“Play this Card”
Panthers (1-2) vs Cardinals (2-1), Sunday
Friday line: Cardinals, -3.0 points
Stellar sophomore QB Kyler Murray has run for at least one touchdown in each of the Cardinals three games so far, and we don’t see this Panthers charade of a defense being able to do much about it this week. If the Panthers decide to employ “spy” coverage against young Kyler, that leaves them unable to double-team all-world WR DeAndre Hopkins and his league-leading 37 targets. Mike Davis is not Christian McCaffrey, although he has done an admiral job filling in for CMC thus far. Teddy Bridgewater isn’t dynamic enough to take advantage of the Arizona defense, which is a young but improving unit. Play the Cards.
NFL Survivor Pool Week 4 Advice: Who to Avoid
“Too Flighty”
Dolphins (1-2) vs Seahawks (3-0), Sunday
Friday line: Seahawks, -5.5 points
The Seahawks featured 25 players on the injury report as of Thursday, and their defense has allowed an absolutely insane 430 passing yards per game. For context, that is 138 yards per game more than the 30th worst pass defense in the NFL (Atlanta is the only other team to crack even 300 yards per game at a putrid 350.) Super rush-safety Jamal Adams is OUT this game and it remains to be seen who this Seahawks pass-rush is supposed to come from. Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is a savvy vet who can and does chuck the rock early and often. FitzMAGIC is real, as witnessed by his FIVE 300+ yard performances in his last 10 games. Dolphin pass-catchers DeVante Parker, Preston Williams and Mike Gesicki are a dynamic trio who can get the job done in this spread-air Chan Gailey offense. We’re not calling the upset, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the South-Beachers outlast a travel-weary Hawks squad flying over 2700 miles and crossing 3 time zones this week. Fade the Hawks and choose a bird of a different color this week.
“Chief Concerns”
Chiefs (3-0) vs Patriots (2-1), Sunday
Friday line: Chiefs, -7.0 points
The Chiefs are a healthy buzz saw, no doubt, but Monday night’s epic performance against Lamar Jackson’s Ravens has for certain taken an emotional toll on the team. For us, it’s enough of a concern, coupled with the Patriots’ running prowess and the goal-line mastery of Superman Pats’ QB Cam Newton to decide to save the Chiefs for a better spot later on in the season. We love Mahomes and the Chiefs, but let’s have patience for now.
Good luck this week, and check back next week for more Survivor Picks & Avoids!
