Regular Season Record: 3-6
The Saints couldn’t sustain their momentum following their 24-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8, as they suffered a 27-13 home loss at the hands of Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens last Monday. New Orleans’ offense was seemingly stuck in the mud against the Ravens, with Andy Dalton passing for just 210 yards and a touchdown with an interception while getting sacked four times. Alvin Kamara rushed for only 30 yards on nine carries. The good news for the Saints is that it should be easier for them to keep up offensively with their next opponent. For one, the Steelers are second-worst in the NFL with just 15.0 points per game and only 27th in third-down conversion success rate. For all their issues and injuries on offense, the Saints still are sixth in the NFL with 391.3 total yards per contest.
The Under is 4-0 in the Saints’ last four games after a double-digit loss as the home team.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 2-6
The Steelers are hoping that a bye in Week 9 will have them recharged enough to get a win in Week 10. In their most recent outing, the Steelers lost to the high-powered Phiadelphia Eagles on the road, 35-13. Kenny Pickett struggled mightily in that contest, passing for only 191 yards with an interception while also getting sacked six times for a loss of 38 yards. But the Steelers’ rushing attack could be their key to success versus New Orleans. The Saints are just 19th in the NFL with 120.9 rushing yards allowed per game. And although Najee Harris has been a weekly disappointment for the Steelers, Jaylen Warren is beginning to shine in the backfield. He led the Steelers with 50 rushing yards on six carries agains the Eagles and also had 26 receiving yards after catching all six targets.
The Steelers are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games after giving up over 30 points in their last outing.
Writer’s Prediction
The Saints win, 23-20.
