Betting on the Oregon Ducks (odds)
Record: 18-13 Overall/11-9 Conference
Oregon is limping into the conference tournament, as the Ducks carry a 0-3 record over their last three games. They have not been in good form for quite some time now, having gone just 2-6 over their last eight games overall. That said, one of the wins they pulled off during that stretch was a 68-63 victory in Eugene on Feb. 24 against the UCLA Bruins. In fact, the Ducks are 2-0 straight up this season against the Bruins. The most important thing to know about the Ducks heading into the Pac-12 tourney is the status of their best player, Will Richardson. The senior guard missed Oregon’s last game – a 94-74 road loss to the Washington State Cougars over the weekend – due to illness. His status for the Oregon State game is currently up in the air. If he can’t go, the Ducks will look to lean on Jacob Young more. Young led the Ducks with 17 points in their 78-56 home win over the Beavers on Jan. 29.
Oregon, which has won both meetings this season with the Beavers, is 5-2 straight up in its last seven meetings with Oregon State.
Betting on the Oregon State Beavers (odds)
Record: 3-27 Overall/1-19 Conference
You have to go all the way back to December 2021 to check out the last time Oregon State won a game. The Beavers are on a 17-game losing streak since defeating the Utah Utes at home on Dec. 30. In their last game, the Beavers absorbed a 78-67 road loss to the Washington Huskies on Mar. 5. It’s going to be hard to trust Oregon State to get past the first round of the Pac-12 tournament against a team that has already defeated it twice this season. Then again, the Beavers nearly beat Oregon at home on Jan. 10, coming up just short in a 78-76 loss. In that game, Oregon State shot 53.4 percent from the field. Warith Alatishe led the Beavers with 16 points to go with seven rebounds and three assists, while Dashawn Davis had 14 points and five assists. Alatishe, however, might still not be ready to play because of a knee injury. In the event that Alatishe can’t go, Davis will have to be more creative in making plays for this team. Davis is 22nd in the nation in assist rate (34.9).
The Under is 2-0 in Oregon State’s lat two games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Oregon wins, 78-68.
