Regular Season Record: 44-27
The Sixers rebounded from a recent loss to the Toronto Raptors in fantastic fashion, as they took down the Miami Heat at home Monday night, 113-106. What made the win even more impressive for the Sixers is that they were able to pull that off against the top team in the Eastern Conference without their two best players in Joel Embiid and James Harden. Nothing is really seriously wrong with Embiid and Harden, though, as they were only given a rest day. That means they can be expected to play this Wednesday versus the Lakers, whom Philly crushed at home back in January, 105-87. Harden was still with the Brooklyn Nets at that time, while Embiid led the Sixers in toppling the Lakers with 26 points. It could get even easier for Embiid this time around as the Lakers won’t have Anthony Davis in the middle to help stop the Cameroonian behemoth.
The Sixers are 2-1-1 in their last four games.
Betting on the Los Angeles Lakers (+7.5)
Regular Season Record: 31-41
It’s been rough for Lakers fans this season with their team struggling to win games, but their team gave them something to feel good about when LeBron James and company mustered a 131-120 road win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night. James posted a triple-double of 38 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists in the victory, while Russell Westbrook had 20 points and 11 assists. It should also be noted that DJ Augustin pitched a perfect game with 20 points on 7/7 shooting from the field including 6/6 from deep. James is still doing wonders at age 37, which is giving Los Angeles hope every game despite the team’s struggles. The four-time MVP was not around in the first meeting with Philly due to a knee issue, but with him now healthy, he should be more than a handful for the Sixers, who just allowed Butler to score 27 points on 8/15 shooting and 11/11 performance from the foul line.
The Over is 3-0 in the Lakers’ last three games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Sixers win, 116-107.
