Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)
The defending Super Bowl champions choked big time in Week 7. There’s no pretty way to put it. The Eagles collapsed and suffered the consequence of their inability to play 100 percent for an entire game by dropping to 3-4 after losing to the Carolina Panthers last week, 21-17. The Eagles had a 17-0 lead entering the fourth quarter but got kicked in the face in the final period in which the Panthers scored 21 unanswered points. The Eagles lost because they let their guard down, which, despite for all the intolerable things Blake Bortles has done this season under center for the Jaguars, Philly can’t afford to do in London. The Eagles are sixth in the league with just 19.7 points allowed per game and 14th overall with 355.4 total yards surrendered per contest.
The over is 5-0 in the Eagles’ last five games away from Philadelphia.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3)
Even outspoken Jags cornerback Jalen Ramsey has admitted that there’s something that’s not right for Jacksonville. It’s the kind of stuff that’s always bound to be said by a player when his team has lost all of its last three games. The Jags will fly to London coming off a 20-7 loss to the Houston Texans at home. The Jags’ offense and the defense are both corrupted as of the moment. They have scored just 14 points in their last two games while giving up 60 points to their opponents over that span. After starting Cody Kessler in lieu of the erratic Blake Bortles, the Jags are reportedly going back to the latter against the Eagles. Bortles has been unreliable, but the Jags also know that he’s their best option as quarterback. Jacksonville is also expected to deploy newcomer running back Carlos Hyde, whom the team acquired via a trade with the Cleveland Browns to give the Jags’ run game a shot in the arm.
The Jags are 3-1 ATS in their last four games as an underdog.
Writer’s Prediction
Philadelphia wins, 27-20.
