The Minnesota Vikings are trailing everybody else in the NFC North, but they can make a leap forward if they can take care of business at home this week against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are now -110 to win the NFC East division. The Vikings, meanwhile, are +300 to win the NFC North.

Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (3-2)
There were moments in the Eagles’ 31-6 win over the New York Jets at home last Sunday when they looked like they were trying to audition for the WWE. Philadelphia’s defense spent almost the entire game suplexing Jets quarterback Luke Falk, whom they sacked nine times that resulted in 52 lost yards for New York. That’s a strong message to send to the Vikings’ offensive line, which hasn’t done much of a great job in protecting Kirk Cousins. The Vikings allowed three sacks in Week 5 and 11 on the season overall. Also, the Eagles have the best defense against the run in the league, which bodes well for their chances in stopping the strength of Minnesota’s attack, which is its ground attack. The Eagles are tops in the NFL in stopping the run, allowing just 63.0 rushing yards per game.
The Eagles are 6-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (3-2)
The Vikings turned to their passing game and found success against the New York Giants last week, coming up with a 28-10 road win. Much-maligned quarterback Kirk Cousins passed for 306 yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-27 completions. However, the backfield still did its job, with running back Dalvin Cook burning rubber for 132 of the team’s 211 total rushing yards. The Vikings are going to run the ball no matter what kind of defense they cross paths with, and that includes the Eagles’ stout stop unit. The key is Cousins, whose passing will be crucial in opening up Philly’s defense and creating holes for Cook and company run through. The Vikings are rushing the ball for 166.4 yards per game — third-most in the NFL. The Eagles could also be missing key pieces in their secondary again, with Avonte Maddox and Ronald Darby sitting out Week 5 due to injuries, and if they miss their team’s date with the Vikings, Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs could wreak havoc together downfield.
The Vikings are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Vikings win, 27-23.
