Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5)
Regular Season Record: 5-6
The Eagles are perhaps at their most stable form after finally winning consecutive games for the first time this season. They followed up their 30-13 road win over the Denver Broncos in Week 10 with a 40-29 victory against the New Orleans Saints at home last Sunday. Philly’s offense is starting to look like a serious threat, as they have scored 70 points in the last two games. Against a good Saints defense, the Eagles rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns on 50 carries. They shouldn’t think about changing things up for their upcoming game against New York, considering that the Giants don’t have an elite run defense. In fact, the Giants had just allowed Tom Brady to rush for 10 yards on a single play in Week 11.
The Eagles are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games overall.
Betting on the New York Giants (+3.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-6
The Giants are back to their losing ways after getting crushed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road last Monday, 30-10. Daniel Jones went 23/38 for just 167 passing yards and a touchdown along with two interceptions and didn’t get much help from the team’s ground attack. Running back Saquon Barkley did not at all resemble the tailback that used to be one of the most unstoppable forces in the NFL, as he finished with just 28 rushing yards on six carries. However, Barkley probably was still trying to shake off the rust after a long absence due to injury, so a better performance from the former Penn State Nittany Lions star can be expected in Week 12. There’s also some encouraging value on New York’s defense that is averaging 1.5 takeaways per game, eighth in the NFL.
The Giants are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games as the underdog.
Writer’s Prediction
The Eagles win, 21-19.
