The Spurs could possibly miss the playoffs, something people would call you crazy for if you told it to them before this season started. But that has become a great possibility with all the injuries the Spurs are nursing. Kawhi Leonard’s status remains unclear, and he’ll definitely not be playing against the Thunder this Saturday. The Spurs, however, didn’t need Kawhi when they beat Oklahoma City on Nov. 17, 104-101. Instead, San Antonio won with its elite defense and a big dosage of LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge scored 26 points in that win, as the Spurs held OKC to only 43.8 field goal percentage. Aldridge was not around when the OKC beat the Spurs 90-87 in the second meeting on Dec. 3, but limited the Thunder to only 42.5 percent shooting from the field. The Spurs could be without Pau Gasol against the Thunder with the Spaniard still dealing with a shoulder injury.

San Antonio is 3-0 ATS in its last three games against the Thunder.

Betting on the Oklahoma City Thunder (37-29)

We are closer to the playoffs than we are to the opening day, but up to this point, the Thunder still seem to struggle with consistency. Nevertheless, they will always be threat because that’s how teams that wield a triumvirate of stars on their starting units should be treated. In their loss to the Spurs in November, Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points, Paul George had 18, while Russell Westbrook had 15. In the rematch, Melo and PG13 only had 17 points together while Russ paced the team with 22 points. Sometimes, it all boils down to shot selection for the Thunder, and up against the disciplined Spurs, OKC will have to choose its shots wisely. As of this writing, the Thunder are third in field goal attempts per game, but are only 12th in field goals made. They are shooting just 45.3 percent from the floor. If Pau Gasol can’t give it a go, the Thunder should take advantage of the Spurs’ slim frontline. The Thunder had 52 points in the paint against San Antonio back in December.

The Thunder are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 home games against San Antonio.

Writer’s Prediction:

Oklahoma City wins, 104-99.
