It wouldn’t be NFL Thanksgiving without America’s team on the schedule. Bettors are fully charged as the LA Chargers visit the Cowboys in Arlington. One the road this season, the Los Angeles Chargers are 2-3 straight up and 3-1-1 against the spread. The Dallas Cowboys are 2-3 straight up and 2-3 against the spread.

Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (4-6)
It’s a tough call as to whether it was the Chargers who performed so well against Buffalo last week, or if they should simply thank Bills coach Sean McDermott. McDermott inexplicably allowed rookie QB Nathan Peterman to start in L.A. in place of Tyrod Taylor. The result? Peterman threw five first-half interceptions which led to 24 points for the Chargers, giving them the most points ever scored by the franchise in the first half, ever. Suffice to say Peterman was taken out of the game with the Chargers up 37-7 at the half. There was no turning back from that mistake as the flood gates were opened and Los Angeles went on to win by a total of 54-24, ending a two-game skid. We hope Peterman likes playing in the CFL next year (and perhaps coached in Saskatchewan by McDermott?).
What we’re saying here, is that the Chargers’ Week 11 performance will have little bearing on this game.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (5-5)
No Ezekiel Elliott. Since his suspension, Dallas has lost two games by a combined score of 64-16. So there’s that. Then, factor in the fact that it’s a super-quick turnaround time for the Cowboys who are playing Thursday afternoon after having played a Sunday night game, which is a bummer even if they are playing at home, which is little solace after Dallas lost to Philly by a score of 37-9. That Week 11 game essentially ended their chances of repeating as NFC East champions.
On the night, Dak Prescott tossed a career-high three interceptions and lost a fumble that was returned for a TD. He may be trying to over-compensate with Elliott out of the lineup. Prescott was also sacked four times (although Smith was not there to get his back). Smith should be back in action for this Thursday Thanksgiving.
Writer’s Prediction:
Dallas is deflated and their season is winding down on a sour note. The Chargers are feeling a sense of accomplishment (albeit a false one) and will come into Texas with a 2-game streak on their agenda. Pick: Chargers (pick ’em).
