Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (-2)
Regular Season Record: 0-2
Trey Lance is now on the injured reserve which means that the Niners will go back to starting Jimmy Garoppolo as their starter, beginning this Sunday against Denver. Jimmy G took over the 49ers’ offense in Week 2 after Lance got hurt and went 13/21 for 154 passing yards (1 touchdown, 0 INT) and also rushed for a touchdown to lead his team to a 27-7 home win over the Seattle Seahawks. Tight end George Kittle missed the Seattle game with a groin issue, but he could return just in time to face the Broncos, who have struggled against teams not expected to make the playoffs.
The 49ers are 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 games after failing to cover in the previous outing.
Betting on the Denver Broncos (+2)
Regular Season Record: 1-1
After an embarrassing Week 1 loss to Geno Smith and the Seahawks, the Broncos finally got their first win of the Russell Wilson era, as they took down the Houston Texans in week 2 at home, 16-9. However, the Broncos are yet to put together a performance worthy of the high expectations of them heading back in the preseason. They have a chance to send a big statement with the 49ers coming to town. Th Broncos two-headed rushing attack of Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon III and Wilson’s dual-threat capabilities should put immense pressure on San Francisco’s defense that hasn’t dealt with an offense as stacked as that of Denver this season to date.
The Under is 6-0 in the Broncos’ last six games in September.
Writer’s Prediction
The Broncos win, 23-20.
