Here comes the Niners. They have strung three wins in a row, including last Sunday’s 34-26 victory at home over the Minnesota Vikings. San Francisco has set itself up well for an upcoming rematch against Seattle, which beat the 49ers back in Week 4 in Santa Clara to the tune of a 28-21 score. One thing going in favor of the Niners this time is that Seattle is clearly out of its element. The Seahawks are not playing as well as they should, while the 49ers are moving to a completely different — and much better — direction. Plus, the Seahawks are just going to be introduced this season to Elijah Mitchell, who’s simply been fantastic over the past few games. The sixth-round rookie rushed for 91 yards in a 31-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10 then torched the field for 133 rushing yards and a touchdown on 27 carries in the Minnesota game.
The 49ers, who are averaging 25.5 points per game, are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (+3.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-8
The Seahawks have as many wins as the New York Jets, which is probably all you need to know about Seattle. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks are 0-3 in their last three games, a stretch that includes their 17-15 road loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 12. The Seahawks are 1-6 in their last seven games, with that lone win coming in their meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars, which isn’t really something to write home about. Still, their recent struggles are not changing the fact that the Seahawks are 1-0 this season against San Francisco. In their win in the first meeting between these two teams, Wilson passed for 149 yards and two touchdowns and zero interceptions on 16/23 completions. DK Metcalf had 65 receiving yards and a touchdown on four catches in that game while running back Alex Collins rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
The Seahawks are 14-6 against the spread in their last 20 games as an underdog.
Writer’s Prediction
The 49ers win, 22-20.
