Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-1)
Regular Season Record: 1-1
Seattle was looking good for the most part of its Week 2 game against hte Tennessee Titans at home until the Seahawks got trucked hard by running back Derrick Henry. The Seahawks ended up losing that game in overtime, 33-30, but after two weeks of football, what’s clear is that Seattle’s offense is no joke. The Seahawks are averaging 29.09 points per game, thanks in large part to Russell Wilson’s accuracy. Wilson has connected close to 75 percent of his pass attempts and has 597 passing yards and six touchdowns with zero turnovers on the season. Wilson is bound to slice through Minnesota’s buttery defense like a hot knife, considering that the Vikings are last in the league in opponents pass completion percentage (77.78%) and 26th in passing yards allowed per game (294.0).
The Seahawks are 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 Week 3 games and 5-1 against the spread in their last six games in the month of September.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (+1)
Regular Season Record: 0-2
It’s not looking good so far for the Vikings, who are still winless after two weeks. They first got upset by the Cincinnati Bengals , 27-24, in Week 1, then was subdued by the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 to the tune of a 34-33 score. Both those games were played away from Minnesota, so the hope for the Vikings is that they are going to put up a much better effort in Week 3 during their season home debut. The Vikings enter that game with an 18-7-1 record against the spread in their last 26 games as the home underdog. As for the Seahawks, they are only 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games in which they were the favorites. This could be where the Vikings get it together and score a win. Going down a 0-3 hole would be a scenario the Vikings obviously don’t want to be in. Given how Henry lit up the Seahawks’ run defense last week, the Vikings could rely on their own monster running back in Dalvin Cook to lead them to success this weekend. Cook has 192 rushing yards and a touchdown on 42 carries, so far this season.
The Vikings are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games in Week 3.
Writer’s Prediction
The Vikings win, 26-23.
