Betting on the South Carolina Gamecocks (+30.5)
Record: 2-0 Overall / 0-0 Conference
South Carolina is off to a great start to the season. After beating the Eastern Illinois Panthers at home in Week 1, 46-0, the Gamecocks scored a 20-17 win over the East Carolina Pirates on the road in Week 2. Not only that, but South Carolina also managed to beat the spread in both contests. Obviously, the date against Georgia isn’t going to be a walk in the part in any sense for the Gamecocks, but it’s going to help South Carolina a lot if its players learn how to play with more discipline on the field. The Gamecocks committed eight penalties for 6 yards in the Eastern Illinois game and then posted eight penalties again for 55 yards against East Carolina.
South Carolina is 3-3 against the spread in its last six road games. The over is also 5-1 in the Gamecocks’ last six games away from home.
Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (-30.5)
Record: 2-0 Overall / 0-0 Conference
Georgia will have a decision to make in the coming days, and that’s whether to keep starting senior quarterback Stetson Bennett over JT Daniels. The latter was not able to play in last week’s game against the UAB Blazers because of a reported oblique injury. That didn’t matter in that game, though, as Bennett was able to guide his team to a 56-7 home win. Bennett went 10/12 for 288 passing yards and five touchdowns without an interception. Daniels’ injury didn’t seem serious enough to keep him out for long, though, so it’s fair to say that he’s expected to be back under center against South Carolina. Daniels had 135 passing yards (0 TDs, 1 INT) on 22/30 completions in Week 1’s 10-3 upset win over the Clemson Tigers.
Writer’s Prediction
Georgia wins, 37-13.
