Betting on the Tennessee Titans (5-4)
It’s time to stop ignoring the Titans. This team appears to have figured it all out, a takeaway that can be fairly made after Tennessee took down Tom Brady and the Patriots at home last Sunday to the tune of a 34-10 score. As what the differential of the score suggests, it was total domination on both ends of the field for the Titans, who got 228 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 16-of-24 completions from quarterback Marcus Mariota. The dual-threat signal-caller is playing more comfortably in the pocket than he was earlier in the season. Against the Pats, he repeatedly hooked up with wideout Corey Davis, who had 125 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches and 10 targets. Tight end Jonnu Smith, meanwhile, had 45 receiving yards on three catches. The Titans, however, turned the ball over three times with cornerback Adoree’ Jackson fumbling the ball twice and Smith once. It goes without saying that they have to take better care of the pigskin in order to let Mariota do more on offense and prevent the dangerous arm of Andrew Luck from getting extra possessions.
The Titans are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (4-5)
The Colts emerged out of a Week 9 bye and victimized the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, 29-26 last Sunday, Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck had an efficient performance, completing 21of 29 passes for 285 passing yards and three touchdowns against only one interception. Perhaps the biggest key for the Colts during their three-game win streak is their improved protection of Luck. The signal-caller hasn’t been sacked over the team’s last four games, during which they went 3-1 SU. In other words, so long as they keep Luck safe and dry, the Colts are going to be in a solid position to win games. Meanwhile, the Colts’ backfield needs to bounce back after pumping out just 81 rushing yards in the Jags game. Indianapolis is 16th in the league with 113.6 rushing yards per game, and while they are coming off a letdown performance on the ground, tailbacks Jordan Wilkins and Marlon Mack are talented enough to keep the Titans on their toes and away from putting too much focus on Luck.
The over is 3-1 in the Colts’ last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Tennessee wins, 27-23.
