The Seton Hall Pirates (+1700 to win the national title) are running away with the best record in the Big East, but there’s still a chance they could lose their seemingly firm grip on the conference’s regular-season title. That’s what the Villanova Wildcats (+2900) are looking to do this Wednesday when they visit the Pirates in Newark.

Betting on the Villanova Wildcats (22-7 Overall / 11-5 Conference)
Jay Wright is a classy man. The Wildcats head coach, after seeing his team lose to the Providence Friars at home 58-54 last Saturday, said that he hopes that it would be enough for the Friars to get to the NCAA Tournament. But don’t expect Wright to feel the same attitude towards Seton Hall, which is a shoo-in to the Big Dance. Plus the Wildcats are looking to avenge their 70-64 home loss to Myles Powell and company back in February. Prior to the loss to the Friars, the Villanova machine was humming, as the Wildcats had a five-game win streak going for the Wildcats. Villanova just didn’t have it in the Friars game, shooting just 35.1 percent from the field and going 5 of 30 from behind the arc. Wildcats forward Saddiq Bey scored 22 points and hit four 3-pointers in the first meeting with Seton Hall.
The under is 3-0 in the Wildcats’ last three games overall.
Betting on the Seton Hall Pirates (21-7 Overall / 13-3 Conference)
After suffering back-to-back losses, the Pirates have found their groove again and closed February with a three-game win streak. That stretch includes an 88-79 win on the road over the Marquette Golden Eagles. The Pirates are lucky to have Powell, easily one of the best players in the nation. Powell scored 28 points and dished out five dimes in the win over Marquette, while Sandro Mamukelashvili put up 26 points and nine rebounds. The duo of Powell and Mamukelashvili was also a headache for Villanova the last time out. Powell had 19 points while Mamukelashvili had 17 in that win over the Wildcats. Seton Hall’s offense is clicking of late. The Pirates have averaged 81.0 points over their last three games. They are averaging 75.1 points per game on the season. Seton Hall’s defense, on the other hand, is 16th in the nation in terms of adjusted efficiency, allowing just 91.4 points per 100 possessions.
The Pirates are 5-4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Seton Hall wins, 76-70.
