The Washington Football Team, despite their recent loss, are still very much in contention for the division title in the ugly world of the NFC East. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions do not have that much of a luxury, as they look to add a win to boost their chances of getting themselves out of the cellar in the NFC North.

Betting on the Washington Football Team (odds)
Regular Season Record: 2-6
The Washington Football Team failed to follow up on their win in Week 7 over the Dallas Cowboys, as they emerged from their bye in Week 8 and lost to the New York Giants at home last Sunday, 23-20. But that’s not the only bad thing that happened to Washington in that game, as they also seemed to have lost quarterback Kyle Allen for at least the coming few weeks after he suffered a gruesome-looking injury. Veteran Alex Smith will be under center for Washington while Allen is out, though it’s also possible that Dwayne Haskins can get his starting gig back. In any case, the Football Team still has Terry McLaurin, who’s one of the best wide receivers today in the NFL. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star can stretch the field for his fellow receivers and make big plays himself. He had 115 receiving yards and a touchdown on just seven catches in the loss to the Giants, and he can look forward to hurting Detroit’s secondary that was largely responsible for why the Lions are just 18th in the NFL against the pass. Antonio Gibson can also have a field day picking up rushing yards against Detroit’s defense that just gave up 275 rushing yards to the Minnesota Vikings.
The under is 7-3 in Washington’s last 10 road games.
Betting on the Detroit Lions (odds)
Regular Season Record: 3-5
After winning two games in a row against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Atlanta Falcons, the Lions are once again showering themselves with losses, as they lost their last two games, including the 34-20 defeat at the hands of the Vikings on the road last Sunday. The Lions could be without Matthew Stafford against Washington, as the franchise quarterback left that game to be checked for a concussion, though he’s already cleared the protocol. Having Stafford on the field is certainly a better option for the Lions than Chase Daniel, but it’s even more ideal for the team if wide receiver Kenny Golladay will play in Week 10. Golladay missed the Week 9 game with a hip injury. For those looking to bet on the Lions, it would be encouraging to know that Washington has gone only 4-6 against the spread in its last 10 games away from home. Rushing against Washington seems to be a good idea also for Detroit, as the Football Team is only 23rd in the NFL in terms of run defense.
The over is 3-0 in the Lions’ last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Washington wins, 27-24.
