Betting on the Washington Huskies (+5)
Record: 3-1 Overall / 3-1 Conference
The Huskies took their first stumble of the season last Saturday, as they got tripped up by the Stanford Cardinal in a 31-26 home loss. The Huskies got 254 passing yards but zero touchdowns from quarterback Dylan Morris, who went 15 of 23. Instead, the offense came from the ground attack, which produced 117 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 34 carries. Morris can recover against Oregon, which has been inconsistent defensively. However, Oregon’s atrocious run defense will be too tasty for the Huskies not to take advantage of. The Ducks have allowed at least 197 rushing yards in three of their five games so far this season. The Ducks surrendered 267 and 269 rushing yards to UCLA and Oregon State, respectively.
The under is 5-2 in Washington’s last seven games on the road.
Betting on the Oregon Ducks (-5)
Record: 3-2 Overall / 3-2 Conference
The Ducks took another punch in the gut. After losing to the Oregon State Beavers on Nov. 27, Oregon fell prey to the California Golden Bears last Saturday, 21-17. Both games were on the road, so a return to Eugene could be the cure for the Ducks’ struggles. The last time they played at home, the Ducks defeated the UCLA Bruins, 38-25. Despite the loss to California, the Ducks must at least feel good about their pass rush that finally showed signs of life. The Ducks entered that game with just four sacks in four games. They matched that total against California to send a strong message to Washington’s pass protection. Oregon’s rushing attack will also play a big role for the Ducks against Washington that is having trouble containing opposing teams’ ground game. The Huskies have allowed 406 rushing yards and five rushing scores over their last two games.
The over is 3-1 in Oregon’s last four games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Ducks win, 37-33.
